WHAT SCHOOLS SAY
WHAT SCHOOLS SAY
We work closely with headteachers and their senior teams to create strong partnerships with schools. This ensures that our work fits in with the ethos of the school and that we are able to support young people in the way that works best for them, working in partnership with or alongside the school and other agencies where required.
Here are some of the things schools have said about AT The Bus:
“AT The Bus provides not just the therapy needed for some of the students in our school, but an unusual opportunity. It is an opportunity they know is special and different. Students are given the opportunity to share, collaborate and work with intention in a way that moves beyond so many of their ordinary experiences - and so the provision is extraordinary.
… Of course for me, as a school leader, it is a resource - a route to providing support to those in need, but calling it a resource doesn't carry the life and energy that comes from AT The Bus. It is vibrant and reverberates through the school with an energy that is unsurpassable. It brings us, me, and the school authentic joy and I am grateful for it.”
Lyndsey Caldwell, Head Teacher Greyfriars Catholic School Oxford
“I hope I can come here next term. I know it’s helped me a lot, I’m doing better in school.”
AT THE BUS STUDENT
“AT The Bus sits firmly within our suite of well-being interventions along with our School Counselling Service, Mental Health Support Team and so on. AT The Bus works very closely with these staff and withYear Leaders/Deputy Leaders to target their support at the students who benefit most. AT The Bus also works strategically with our senior pastoral leaders so that the impact of their work is always reviewed. As a result, a significant number of our most vulnerable students are having a better experience in school, as reflected by higher levels of attendance and punctuality, a reduction in consequences through our Behaviour For Learning system and increased academic progress.”
Chris Price, Head Teacher, The Cherwell School Oxford

“We have benefited greatly from the addition of AT The Bus at New Marston Primary School. Pupils have been keen to attend and the sessions have provided a calm space during their busy week. Pupils are sad to finish their sessions and remember them fondly when we ask about the things New Marston does to support their wellbeing.
The inclusion of parent-child sessions has had an impact; it has been the intervention that has made the greatest difference to one child, above academic interventions. Building positive relationships for those who have previous negative experiences of school has led to trust and engagement with school. I would struggle to plan for a year without access to AT The Bus now!”
